Christopher Marlowe was born in 1564 in Canterbury. He studied at Cambridge University. He lived only 29 years. He died in 1593. His age was the Elizabethan age. Queen Elizabeth ruled England then. Theatre grew fast in London at that time.
Marlowe wrote for the public stage. He made English tragedy strong before Shakespeare. People call him the father of English tragedy. He died young, but his plays still live.

Marlowe wrote in blank verse. Blank verse means lines without rhyme. His lines are strong and musical. People call it the mighty line. His heroes are very ambitious. They want all power and knowledge. Tamburlaine wants the world. Faustus wants magic.
He uses big speeches and strong images. He shows pride, dreams and fall. His style is bold and full of energy. Students can learn short strong lines from him.
মার্লো blank verse এ লেখেন। অর্থাৎ মিলহীন লাইন। তার লাইন শক্ত ও সুরেলা। একে বলে mighty line। তার নায়করা খুব উচ্চাকাঙ্ক্ষী। তারা সব ক্ষমতা চায়। তিনি বড় বক্তৃতা ও শক্ত ছবি ব্যবহার করেন। অহংকার, স্বপ্ন ও পতন দেখান।
Only Doctor Faustus is in your syllabus by Marlowe. It is a tragedy in five acts. Faustus sells his soul for 24 years. He enjoys magic and courts. At midnight devils take him. The play teaches the price of pride.
For the exam, link Marlowe to Faustus only. Do not bring Tamburlaine in detail. One line about Tamburlaine is enough for background. Focus all points on Faustus.
সিলেবাসে মার্লোর শুধু Doctor Faustus আছে। এটি পাঁচ অঙ্কের ট্র্যাজেডি। ফস্টাস ২৪ বছরের জন্য আত্মা বিক্রি করে। শেষে শয়তানরা তাকে নেয়। পরীক্ষায় মার্লো মানেই ফস্টাস লিখবে। Tamburlaine নিয়ে এক লাইন যথেষ্ট। সব পয়েন্ট ফস্টাসে রাখো।
The main theme is overreaching. It means crossing the human limit. His heroes cross the limit. They fall at the end. The second theme is Renaissance spirit. It means love for knowledge and power. Man wants to win the world.
The third theme is sin and fall. Pride leads to sin. Sin leads to death. This moral closes every play. Use these three themes in author questions.
মূল বিষয় সীমা ছাড়ানো। অর্থাৎ মানুষের সীমা পার হওয়া। তার নায়করা সীমা পার হয়। শেষে পতন হয়। দ্বিতীয় বিষয় রেনেসাঁ চেতনা। অর্থাৎ জ্ঞান ও ক্ষমতার ভালোবাসা। তৃতীয় বিষয় পাপ ও পতন। অহংকার পাপ আনে। পাপ মৃত্যু আনে। লেখক প্রশ্নে এই তিনটি লিখবে।
For Part-B (4 marks), write intro, 4 points and conclusion. Use 300-350 words. Best points are life, mighty line, Faustus, and moral. For Part-C (10 marks), write intro, 8 points and conclusion. Use 900+ words. Add age, heroes, blank verse, and Renaissance spirit.
Must-use terms are blank verse, tragic hero, hamartia and Renaissance spirit. Explain each term in simple words. End with one moral line about pride and fall.
Part-B (৪ নম্বর) এর জন্য ভূমিকা, ৪ পয়েন্ট ও উপসংহার লেখো। ৩০০-৩৫০ শব্দ রাখো। সেরা পয়েন্ট হলো জীবন, mighty line, ফস্টাস ও নৈতিকতা। Part-C (১০ নম্বর) এর জন্য ৯০০+ শব্দ রাখো। যুগ, নায়ক, blank verse ও রেনেসাঁ চেতনা যোগ করো। প্রতিটি শব্দ সহজে বুঝিয়ে দাও।
"A sound magician is a mighty god."
Faustus speaks this line in the opening scene. He praises magic above all learning. He thinks magic makes man like God. This one line shows his pride and choice. It opens the whole tragedy.
Use this in Marlowe style or Faustus ambition questions. After the quote, explain it simply and link it to overreaching.
