Alexander Pope was born in 1688. He was small and sickly. But his mind was sharp and witty. He ruled Augustan poetry. He died in 1744. The Rape of the Lock is in your syllabus.
He writes mock-heroic. It laughs at small things in grand style. A lock of hair becomes a war. Pins become swords. Wit crowns every line.
