Edmund Spenser was born in 1552 in London. He studied at Cambridge. He worked in Ireland as an officer. He lived in the Elizabethan age. Queen Elizabeth ruled then. He died in 1599.
He is called the poet of poets. His great work is The Faerie Queene. Only Book One is in your syllabus.

Spenser writes allegory. Allegory means a story with two meanings. Outside it is a knight story. Inside it is a moral truth. Red Cross Knight means holiness. Error means falsehood.
He made the Spenserian stanza. It has nine lines. His language is old but musical. Learn the moral, not hard words.
স্পেন্সার allegory লেখেন। অর্থাৎ দুই অর্থের গল্প। বাইরে নাইটের গল্প। ভেতরে নৈতিক সত্য। তিনি Spenserian stanza বানান। নয় লাইনের স্তবক।
Only Book One Canto One is in your syllabus. The Red Cross Knight travels with Una. Una means truth. A monster called Error attacks them. The knight kills Error. Then Archimago cheats him with dreams.
For the exam, focus on holiness, Error fight, and Una. Do not go into later cantos.
সিলেবাসে শুধু Book One Canto One আছে। নাইট উনার সাথে চলে। উনা মানে সত্য। Error দানব আক্রমণ করে। নাইট তাকে মারে। পরীক্ষায় holiness ও Error যুদ্ধে মন দাও।
For Part-B (4 marks), write intro, 4 points and conclusion. Use 300-350 words. Best points are life, allegory, Canto One, and moral. For Part-C (10 marks), write intro, 8 points and conclusion. Use 900+ words.
Must-use terms are allegory and moral. Explain each simply. End with the victory of truth.

Spenser describes Error as half snake. Ugliness shows falsehood. The knight kills her. Truth kills lies.
Use this in allegory questions. It proves evil looks ugly.
